The weather might not be playing ball right now but when it comes to fashion, summer is the perfect time to be a little bolder. We’re big believers in the power of a great outfit, and a pop of colour is an instant mood-booster. Really – why bother with black when yellow is so fabulous?
This week’s newsletter is dedicated to all things beautifully bright, with five reasons to wear colour this season. Take a look and let us know your favourite summer shades over on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
1. Bright colours can boost your mood
If you’re feeling a bit down in the dumps and need a pick-me-up, throwing on a sunshine yellow skirt or some bright statement earrings can really help shake the blues.
Try mixing bold patterns with darker pieces and adding a pair of colour-pop earrings for an extra boost – we love the mix of pretty pink and zingy purple in these.
2. Bold shades look better in sunshine
Ok, so pretty much everything looks better with a bit of sun. But bright, zesty colours look particularly amazing when the sun’s shining and the sky is blue – great weather just makes them pop even more!
We love our Tetra earrings in Saffron – the rich yellow almost glows, and they look even better with a sunkissed tan.
3. All your fave bloggers are doing it
Brights are officially back in the Blogosphere – from aqua blue to juicy orange, Instagram is awash with rainbow shades!
One of the most colourful bloggers out there is Lucy from Shiny Thoughts – her outfit posts are a masterclass in bold, bright style and expert pattern clashing. We love this sunny yellow maxi dress paired with a red statement jacket.
4. You’ve got all winter to wear black
Don’t forget how long and grey winter is – at least when you’re reaching for yet another black outfit on a cold November morning, you can remember the colourful days of summer!
If you’re not confident wearing head-to-toe brights, try adding a pop of colour to a neutral outfit – our Diamond Squares in Blush bring just the right amount of zest to this crisp white look.
5. You’ll always raise a smile
Is there anything better than making people smile? We think not. And if your outfit oozes colour and cheer, you’re bound to get a smile from everyone you meet.
So when you’re getting dressed tomorrow, ditch the denim and leave the grey for another day. Reach for those rainbow shades, dress for happiness and embrace the summer, even if it is a little damp out there. We don’t get many bright days here in the UK – sometimes we have to make our own sunshine.
