We *love* a bit of colour clashing here at Toolally. You know we’re all about the bright, bold shades… so why not put two and two together and mix bright orange with neon pink? Makes sense to us!
Seriously though, teaming two statement shades doesn’t mean you’ll look like a children’s TV presenter. Colour clashing can be done in a sleek, chic way – and of course, we’re here to show you how. Take a look below for our top tips and don’t forget to find us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for even more colour inspo.
Keep it blocky
Colour clashing is easy when you split your outfit into blocks – go for a vibrant dress paired with contrasting shoes, then add a tonal bag and accessories.
Lucy from Shiny Thoughts always works the colour clash look, and we love this orange + yellow + red combo. Perfect for those balmy summer evenings we’re sure are just around the corner!

Try different colour combos
Colour clashing is all about experimenting with different combinations. Scroll through Pinterest or the #dscolor tag on Instagram – you’ll find tons of inspiring colour pairings, from lime green and royal purple to this delicious hot pink/zesty orange/cool blue combo.
Once you’ve found a mix you love, look out for pieces that use similar shades. For this particular pairing, we think our Iridescent Circles are a perfect match!
Add detail with a pattern
Patterned pieces are great for breaking up colour blocks and bringing a little more ‘oomph’ to an outfit. Monochrome prints, like this gorgeous stripy skirt worn by Fritha from Tigerlilly Quinn, look stylish alongside bold colours without being OTT.
We love how Fritha’s paired her monochrome print with zingy yellow and pale pink for a modern take on a 50s look. Our Wobbles in Blush Pink would be the perfect finishing touch, don’t you think?
If in doubt, start small!
If head-to-toe colour clashing feels a bit daunting, start small with bold accessories. Our range of statement earrings will add a pop of colour to a simple outfit – perfect if you can’t bear to give up your beloved black!
For vintage fans, our Pear Drops in Tropical have a real retro vibe, while the HRH in Violet combine rich purple with zingy brights for a stylish finish. But our colour clash faves are the Art Deco Chandeliers in Citrus – love that yellow/pink/orange combo!
