The 2022 trends to know

We’re turning over a new fashion leaf this year, with five trends that feel fresh, fun, and perfect for accessorising.

Picture the scene: the nights are lighter, the skies are brighter and there’s a calendar filled with plans that need great new outfits. We might still be bundling up in last year’s chunky knits and cosy coats, but there’s nothing we love doing more in January than looking ahead to the newest trends — and deciding how we’re going to wear them.

And luckily for us, 2022 is bringing with it plenty to get excited about. Bold colour, daring shapes and interesting design are leading the way — think juicy shades, cut-out details and a new approach to personalisation — and above all, fashion feels fun again. Here’s how we’re channeling this year’s key looks.

Personalisation, but not as you know it

There was once a time when intricately monogrammed accessories were the ultimate way to own something you’d treasure forever. But personalisation has come a long way from embossed leather goods and embroidered scarves. Contemporary initial jewellery is having a real moment, and stackable, mix-and-match and wear-alone pieces are the way to add instant self-expression to an outfit. Our Alphabet Collection takes the initial jewellery trend to the next level. Each letter is its own unique and beautiful design, with statement hoops soon to be joined by studs and signet rings.

Pink and green should always be seen

After a couple of fallow years, fashion feels frivolous again — and we love it. Bold, vivid colour has made a riotous comeback on the catwalks, and the palette is deliciously juicy, with citrus brights and saturated tones from head to toe. But the two standout shades, seen everywhere from new season Alexander McQueen and Botega Veneta to the most recent series of Emily in Paris, are pink and green. It’s the joyous colour combination our wardrobes are crying out for — and we can’t get enough. Try our Beats Scarf, or Art Deco Chandeliers in Pink Mirror.

The French bob

We’ve always been inspired by 20s and 30s fashion and design, so we’re thrilled to see this particular haircut making a triumphant comeback for 2022: the French bob. Short, chic and sharp (or shaggy, depending on how you style it), the look takes its cue from golden Hollywood heroines like Louise Brooks — but with a distinctly modern update. And it’s perfect for showing off your favourite statement earrings — we’d pair it with our Art Deco Chandeliers or striking gold Bolts.

Fringing and feathers

Embellishment is back — and this time, it’s all about the trimmings. You may have already spotted Sleeper’s cult pyjamas all over Instagram, with their luxe feathered cuffs, but this trend has captured high fashion, too. On the SS22 catwalks, Valentino and Giambattista Valli took peacocking to the max, with JW Anderson and Etro bringing the fun, colourful fringing. Channel the trend into your accessories with our Kingfishers or dramatic, flowing Oh What a Nights.

Cut to it

Perhaps it’s the effect of too many Saturday nights spent in loungewear, but sheer, short and subtly revealing styles are on their way to up the glamour stakes this year (think gauzy dresses, wide mesh textures and peekaboo shapes). If that sounds a little too daring, try working the cut-out look through your accessories instead. Our Gatsbys, Crescent Hoops and Arrowheads all use negative space to create intricate shapes that are as stunning as they are cleverly designed — perfect for making an impact on a night out.
